What is your eternal perspective, meaning, does your lifestyle choices result in rewards or punishments in some life when you die? If your life was shortened by accident or infirmary, (and this can happen to anyone) are you currently at peace with what you believe happens afterwards? Most want to know what happens after we die and I suspect agnostics and atheists question their beliefs as they age and begin getting glimpses of their own mortality. Every religion (or lack of one) has some answer to this.

Some think it doesn’t matter or that religions embrace some belief in an afterlife as a “placebo for the future” or that we “wisp around” with other fortunate souls that escape eternal damnation. Why do we have this built in longing to know the answer to this? To know the end of a story recquires knowing what the story is and every story has a beginning.

Doesn’t it stand to reason our Creator would not design us to be discarded after use? When something is created that is wonderful or beautiful we go to extraordinary lengths to preserve it, whether it be buildings, paintings or unusual tracts of land. If any of these are disturbed or damaged we re-purpose them in order to continue the enjoyment of their beauty. Knowing God made all of us in His image makes our inclinations for preservation make even more sense. It becomes a no brainer to conclude I won’t be discarded after use and that I will be “repurposed” for what is next and still “in His image”. Imagine that!
